Deborah Heins artist

About the artist.......
I was born and raised in New York City as the youngest of five children. Even as a child I had the heart of an artist. From the age of four I loved to draw and paint and would do so for hours in solitude. In 1981 at the age of 13, my Father retired and our family moved to Arizona. I instantly fell in love with the geography, climate and culture of this great state and I have considered Arizona my home ever since .
Although I wish I had, I did not study art as a profession. Instead, I sought education in business and a career in advertising followed by 16 years in the mortgage and banking industry. I now work in insurance trying to paint whenever I can.
I married first in 1986 and had five amazing children in nine years, all of whom have interest in the arts ranging from music to photography. My younger children have even been known to pick up a paint brush occassionally which always makes me smile.
Throught those busy years I still tried to make time for my art work. In 1984 my Father wrote a book of poetry and short stories which I illustrated. His book was published and on sale in B Daltons for many years. While working in media advertising I had designed several lbusiness logos for various companies. I have done approximately 19 commissioned paintings since 2012. This last year, after seeing my work on an artists web site, I was contacted by a gallery in Tennessee who commissioned me to do a military painting for one of their projects. As a result, I began to secretly wonder if I could ever truly make a name for myself as an artist.
No matter where this journey takes me, I love to commemorate the unique and beautiful city of Tucson in many of my paintings. Her architecture and people as well as the geography and wildlife in the desert southwest has inspired much of my work. I consider it an honor and I am very thankful to live here .
By creating this website and increasing my exposure my fondest wish , as others view my artwork, would be that they experience a small fraction of the happiness and joy I did as I created them.
Thank you for visiting with me here today . . . .
